Roundtrip flights are not a part of your trip cost. You are responsible to purchase your own flights to and from Turkey. You are required to email Emmaus your complete flight itinerary so proper arrival and departure information can be managed. There are some dynamics associated with your arrival in Turkey and your departure from Turkey that you need to consider when scheduling your flights.

WHEN TO PURCHASE YOUR AIRLINE TICKETS 

Please wait to purchase your tickets until after you have received notice of the trip confirmation.  Your group leader will guide you to appropriate flight selection.

When you do purchase your tickets, it is recommended that you confirm cancellation or change of flight policy with the airlines.

 

ARRIVAL DAY: MAY 25 

May 25 is the scheduled arrival day in Turkey. Touring will begin the afternoon of May 25.  

 

ARE YOU PLANNING TO ARRIVE IN TURKEY BEFORE May 25? 

If you decide to arrive early, please email Info@Emmausonline.net for information regarding this arrangement.  You are responsible to arrange your own transportation to the airport to meet with the group bus arrangement on May 25.

 

ARRIVAL AT ISTANBUL ATATURK AIRPORT 

Upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk (IST) follow the people exiting the plane. Look for directional signage.

Passport Control

You will first stop at Passport Control, which can take time during peak travel seasons. 

To avoid long lines, you will complete and submit an E-Visa form before you begin your travels.  In May, you will receive an email from Emmaus directing you to complete the Turkish government E-Visa form and to pay the appropriate fee.  You will bring a printout of your online visa application with you and present this at passport control in the airport.

Baggage Claim and Money Exchange

After Passport Control is Baggage Claim. After Baggage Claim you will pass through Customs and then enter the Arrival Hall area.  You will exit this area and will be met by your tour guide, who will direct you to the group bus.  You will have a brief afternoon touring sites.

Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted.  You will want to change some money for incidental purchases. Your tour guide will direct you to best arrangements to exchange money.  ATM's are available.

HAVE YOU BOOKED YOUR FLIGHTS? 

Check with your group leader to guide you with appropriate flight selection to Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST).  Reserve your flight to arrive in the morning on Sunday, May 25.  We will begin touring in the afternoon.  Once you've booked your flight, please email your flight itinerary with the following information:

 

Flight to Turkey

1) Flight numbers for your flights to Turkey,

including airport cities

2) Departure date and departure time

3) Arrival date and arrival time

 

Returning Flight from Turkey 

1) Flight number for your returning flight,

including airport cities

TRANSPORTATION FROM THE HOTEL TO THE AIRPORT 

You will be informed of the time to meet the group in the hotel lobby.   The group bus will take you to the local airport for your early morning connecting flight to the Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST).  You will depart from the Istanbul airport for your home destination.
