Arrival/Departure

Roundtrip flights are not a part of your trip cost. You are responsible to purchase your own flights to and from Israel. You are required to email Emmaus your complete flight itinerary so proper arrival and departure information can be managed. There are some dynamics associated with your arrival in Israel and your departure from Israel that you need to consider when scheduling your flights.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

At this time, Israel requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a negative PCR test within 72 hours of departure.  Once your arrive, additional COVID-19 tests will occur at the Ben Gurion Airport.  More descriptive instructions will follow via an email to registered participants as we get closer to the departure date.

WHEN TO PURCHASE YOUR AIRLINE TICKETS

Please wait to purchase your airline tickets until you have been notified that the trip is confirmed. When you do purchase your tickets, it is important to reserve a flight that arrives in time to connect with the bus to the first hotel.

When you do purchase your tickets, it is strongly recommended that you confirm cancellation or change of flight policy with the airlines.

ARRIVAL DAY: MARCH 3

March 3 is the scheduled arrival day in Israel. You are responsible to book a flight that will arrive to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) by 4:30 PM on March 3 in order to connect with the group bus arrangement.

ARE YOU PLANNING TO ARRIVE IN ISRAEL BEFORE MARCH 3?

Due to COVID protocols in Israel, you must arrive in Israel on March 3.  You are not able to schedule an earlier arrival.

ARRIVAL AT BEN GURION AIRPORT

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) follow the people exiting the plane. Many are locals or seasoned travelers to Israel.

COVID Protocols

Due to Israel COVID-19 entry protocols, you will be directed to a location in the airport to have the required COVID tests.  The COVID tests are a personal expense that you will need to pay.  The Israel tour agency that we work with will organize assistance through this process.

Passport Control

Your first stop is at Passport Control, which can take time during peak travel seasons. At Passport Control you will receive a small visa document. Keep this visa document until your departure from Israel.

Baggage Claim

After Passport Control is Baggage Claim. While in Baggage Claim it is recommended you exchange $200 each for later incidental personal expenses and lunches.

Customs

After Baggage Claim you will pass through Customs and then enter the Arrival Hall Lobby.  If you arrive by 4:30 PM on March 3, your guide, Steve Notley, will be in the Arrival Hall Lobby to meet you.  You will proceed as a group to the Emmaus bus.

TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT

Reserve a flight that will arrive to Ben Gurion Airport no later than 4:30 PM on March 3.

The Emmaus bus will depart the airport for the hotel around 6:00 PM.

If for any reason you miss the scheduled bus transfer, it will be necessary for you to take a taxi to the hotel. The cost is approximately $250.

TAXI SERVICE TO THE HOTEL

If you miss the scheduled bus transfer, you will need to take a taxi to the hotel.  Follow these instructions:
1.
When you enter the Arrival Hall Lobby directly in front of you and over the main door is a sign that says "Taxi" – exit there. Once outside walk about 75 yards to the left until you see a "Taxi Dispatch” booth and the attendant.
2.  See the taxi attendant for your taxi to your hotel. The taxi attendant will assign you a taxi and give you the exact cost upon request. All private taxis are white, 4-door sedans. It is about a 60-minute drive to the hotel.   WARNING: You may be approached by an unauthorized taxi driver offering you a ride. It is best to avoid these taxi solicitations. To avoid them, follow the instructions above to have the official taxi attendant assign you a taxi.
3.  Pay the driver upon arrival at the hotel. Tipping is not expected; it is optional at 5-10%.

DEPARTURE DAY: MARCH 13

The scheduled departure day is March 13.

Hotel check out is 11 AM.

However, March 12 is a free day in Jerusalem and some of you might want to depart on March 12 rather than March 13. That is perfectly acceptable.

TRANSPORTATION FROM THE HOTEL TO THE AIRPORT

Because participants have different departure dates and times, Emmaus is not providing transportation from the Jerusalem hotel to the airport for your departure. It will be necessary for you to take a taxi from the hotel to the airport. The cost is approximately $100 or 350 shekels (Israel currency). Please see the front desk at the hotel to arrange a taxi. For 3 or more persons traveling together to the airport, the front desk may be able to provide larger transportation. Please inquire.

MARCH 13: CHECK-OUT TIME

Check-out time on March 13 is 11:00 am.

If you desire a later check out time you may make a request at the front desk. In some cases, a fee may apply. Emmaus is not booking post-trip arrangements at our Jerusalem hotel. Please contact the hotel directly for any additional overnight arrangements you desire beyond March 13. See the Hotels link for additional information.
