Arrival/Departure

Roundtrip flights are not a part of

your trip cost.

You are responsible to purchase your own flights to and from Israel. You are required to email Emmaus your complete flight itinerary so proper arrival and departure information can be managed. There are some dynamics associated with your arrival in Israel and your departure from Israel that you need to consider when scheduling your flights.

ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION (ETA-IL)

US citizens need an approved ETA-IL to enter Israel for tourism or business purposes starting January 1, 2025. Submit the ETA form online at least 72 hours before travel. The ETA-IL is valid for 2 years or when your passport expires, whichever is shorter.

The ETA form and visa entry information can be found on this Israel government website:

Passport Control

Travelers with an approved ETA may go directly to the border control e-gates at Ben Gurion Airport. At the passport kiosk you will scan your passport and receive a small blue visa document. Then proceed to the line for the passport agent to see your visa document. Keep this visa document until your departure from Israel.

Baggage Claim and Money Exchange

After Passport Control is Baggage Claim. While in Baggage Claim it is recommended you exchange dollars for incidental personal expenses.

After Baggage Claim you will pass through Customs and then enter the Arrival Hall Lobby.

TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT TO MIGDAL ACCOMMODATIONS

There will be one bus transfer from Ben Gurion Airport to our accommodations in Migdal. You will be taken late afternoon by bus from the airport to our accommodations in Migdal.

MEETING THE GROUP BUS ARRANGEMENT

When you exit Baggage Claim and Customs Hall, you will enter the Arrival Hall Lobby.  You may need to wait in the Arrival Hall for your bus transfer.  At a designated time in the afternoon, you will be met by an excavation assistant who will lead you and other participants to your bus.  You will receive an email with details regarding who will meet you and the time of your bus departure.

If you miss the group bus arrangement to the Migdal accommodations, you are responsible to find your own transportation to our accommodations.  Exit the Arrival Hall through the main exit, and walk to the "Taxi Dispatch" attendant. The dispatch attendant will assign you a taxi and give you the cost upon request.  A taxi will cost about $300-$350 and is about a 2-3 hour drive.  You will need to pay in US dollars or Israeli shekels.

WARNING: You may be approached by an unauthorized taxi driver offering you a ride. It is best to avoid these taxi solicitations. To avoid them, follow the instructions above to have the official taxi attendant assign you a taxi.
Pay the driver upon arrival at the Migdal accommodations. Tipping is not expected; it is optional at 5-10%.
